Armed Forces Day Walk across the bay with SSAFA

The ever-popular Cross Bay Walk for SSAFA is back for 2023 and this year it falls on Armed Forces Day.
Date: On Saturday 24th June.
Time: Registration starts from 8.30am for a prompt 9.30am start.
Meeting Point: Arnside Promenade
Tickets: £15 per adult and £5 per child (under 18 yrs). *Please note - Parents should assess whether the walk is suitable for their young children. Children should be able to negotiate the river channels with minimum assistance.
Join us on this unique 6-7 mile walk from Arnside to Grange-over-Sands whilst helping to raise much needed funds to aid SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity in the North West. There really is no better way to see the magnificent Bay!
Led by Michael Wilson, the King's Guide to the Sands, we leave Arnside and cross the beautiful bay, along a safe route navigated between the tidal flow. This unique route varies from year to year depending on the tides, but usually takes between 2 to 3 hours to complete.
All participants receive a free SSAFA T-shirt. We ask that you aim to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship per particiant, every penny raised in sponsorship makes a difference.
Families and Groups
This is a great event for families and groups of friends. If you wish to make a group booking please ensure to create a team on the registration page. You will be able to name your team and also enter the email addresses for the rest of your members to send out invites.
We don't provide transport to and from the start/finish of the walk. With parking at either side, it is recommended that you park at Grange and catch the train to Arnside (6mins) walk to the Pier then walk across the bay to Grange, then walk back to your car at Grange.
- There are toilets situated on both promenades close to the start and finish points of the walk.
- There are many cafes at Arnside where we start the walk, due to the early start, we recommend that walkers take a flask and snack in their rucksack.
- Dogs welcome - £1 donation payable on the day to the organiser.
